Mount Vernon’s 28th Annual Town Meeting was held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Mount Vernon High School “Little Theatre.”
After posting of the Colors by the Mount Vernon High School Marine JROTC and the Pledge of Allegiance, Supervisor Hyland welcomed everyone, introduced elected officials and appointees who were in the audience, and asked everyone to remember the Mount Vernon District residents lost in 2014.
Supervisor Hyland introduced Congressmen Gerry Connolly and Don Beyer, and invited them to say a few words.
Next, we heard presentations:
County Priorities: Sharon Bulova, Chairman, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
Fairfax County Issues and Budget: Ed Long, Fairfax County Executive
Mount Vernon School Current Issues and Challenges: Dan Storck, School Board Representative, Mount Vernon District
Fort Belvoir Update: Colonel Michelle Mitchell, Garrison Commander, Fort Belvoir

Supervisor Hyland thanks the exhibitors who participated in the exhibit hall this year and provided very useful information for our residents and an opportunity for engagement with so many of our County departments, agencies, and non-profits.
